HackIndia Spark 11 Hyderabad: Inside the CBIT Hackathon That Brought Open Innovation and MUTAGENT Track Builders Together

HackIndia Spark 11 took over Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Hyderabad on August 7 and 8, 2026, bringing student developers from across the city together for two intense tracks, Open Innovation and MUTAGENT, culminating in a high energy hacking sprint and a closely fought set of final results.

HackIndia Spark 11 Hyderabad: Inside the CBIT Hackathon That Brought Open Innovation and MUTAGENT Track Builders Together

HackIndia's Spark series returned to Hyderabad with its eleventh edition, hosted at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) on August 7 and 8, 2026. Spark 11 brought together student builders from engineering colleges across the region for a fast paced, in person hackathon that combined open ended innovation with a themed challenge track, giving participants the freedom to build broadly while also testing focused technical problem solving under time pressure.

    How the Event Unfolded

The hackathon opened with a formal inauguration ceremony at CBIT, where organizers, faculty, and mentors set the tone for the two days ahead. Once the ceremony wrapped, teams moved straight into building mode, kicking off a continuous hacking sprint that ran through the event window. Participants worked in teams, iterating on ideas, building functional prototypes, and preparing to pitch their work to a panel of judges by the close of the hackathon.

    Two Tracks, One Hackathon

Spark 11 Hyderabad ran on two parallel tracks, each designed to pull out a different kind of builder energy.

Open Innovation Track: A wide open canvas for teams to identify a problem worth solving and build a solution from scratch, with no fixed theme constraining the direction of the project.

MUTAGENT Track: A focused challenge track built around a specific technical theme, pushing teams to apply their skills within a defined problem space and compete on execution and depth rather than breadth of idea.

Both tracks ran simultaneously across the two day window, giving CBIT and the wider Hyderabad college ecosystem a genuinely competitive, high density hackathon experience.

    Winners

In the Open Innovation Track, Team SIXSEVEN from Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science took first place, followed by Team Olivander from NET Pharmacy College in second, and Team Ai Rebels from TKR College of Engineering & Technology in third.

In the MUTAGENT Track, Team NxtGen from CVR College of Engineering claimed first place, Team Nirvikalp representing CVR College of Engineering and KMCE finished second, and Team Localhost from Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology rounded out the podium in third.

A Strong Showing From Hyderabad's Engineering Colleges

The final standings reflected just how competitive the Hyderabad college circuit has become. CVR College of Engineering placed teams in both the top two spots of the MUTAGENT Track, a rare sweep that speaks to a deep bench of technical talent on campus. Meanwhile Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Science, NET Pharmacy College, TKR College of Engineering & Technology, and Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology all landed teams on the podium, underlining how widely hacking culture has spread across the region's engineering institutions.

    Why Spark 11 Matters

HackIndia Spark exists to bring hackathon culture directly onto campuses, pairing an open building environment with structured, sponsor grade challenge tracks. Spark 11 at CBIT continued that model, giving Hyderabad's student developer community a real, in person platform to build, compete, and get discovered, ahead of the next stop on the Spark calendar.

Stay tuned for more updates as HackIndia Spark continues its campus tour across India.
